James Gunn Prepares to Shoot SUPERMAN: LEGACY in March and Addresses Plot Summary
A brief new plot summary for James Gunn's Superman: Legacy has surfaced as the film is gearing up for production in March 2024. That revelation comes from Gunn himself, he also addressed the synopsis that was shared. The synopsis reads:
"Superman, a cub reporter in Metropolis, embarks on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent."
Yeah, there really isn’t much to go off on that and there’s nothing really surprising revealed. Gunn said of the summary:
“Not sure where this logline came from. I didn’t write it. It has elements of truth (obviously based on things I’ve said in the past). But I wouldn’t describe the plot this way, & I wouldn’t call Clark a cub reporter. He’s a thirty-year-old full-on reporter. But, yeah, we shoot in March. I’m grateful every day our production team worked their asses off to keep things going through the strikes. Forces impelled us to stop many times - & if we had we’d never make July 2025. The most exciting and interesting aspect of the project that’s been reported on in all of the casting, which reveals that the film is going to be filled with lots of different characters and superheroes.
David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer.
I’m really curious to see what kind of Superman story that Gunn ends up crafting with all of these characters. There are also more that have yet to be announced!
The director recently addressed the huge cast, saying: "What single-protagonist movie doesn’t have more than ten speaking roles?" Gunn asked. "There will be more."
Superman: Legacy will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
