Tatiana Maslany Addresses SHE-HULK Rumors That She Declined AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY - "You'll Never Know"

The question of whether Jennifer Walters will smash her way back into the MCU for Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars keeps coming up, and with the Multiverse Saga heading toward its biggest crossover events, fans are understandably curious about the status of She-Hulk and the actress who brought her to life, Tatiana Maslany.

Over the past several months, reports have painted a picture that Marvel Studios and Maslany might not be on the best terms. That speculation picked up steam thanks to a rumor claiming she was invited back for the next Avengers movies and flat-out declined. According to that report, the decision stemmed from a falling out with Disney.

Part of what fueled those rumors traces back to late last year, when Maslany publicly encouraged fans to cancel their Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN subscriptions after Jimmy Kimmel was temporarily taken off the air following controversial comments about Charlie Kirk.

Not long after, scooper MTTSH added more gasoline to the fire, suggesting Marvel very much wants She-Hulk involved in the upcoming Avengers story but may be hitting a wall with the actress.

“Marvel Studios wanted to use She-Hulk in a big way for Avengers Secret Wars. The problem is that Tatiana Maslany has no interest in working for Disney. If they’re unable to convince her to return, the options are to remove the character altogether or recast the role.”

That’s a heavy claim, but Maslany herself isn’t exactly eager to confirm or deny anything. When pressed recently about her potential involvement in Doomsday and the rumors, she simply said, “You’ll never know.”

Marvel actors are famously locked down when it comes to spoilers, and saying anything definitive could easily get her in hot water if she is involved. For now, that answer keeps the door cracked open without committing to anything.

I mean, we’ll eventually know when the movie comes out. Or, if we ever see Maslany in the role of She-Hulk again.

All of this comes against the backdrop of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law being one of Marvel’s more divisive Disney+ projects. The series pulled in generally positive reviews and reportedly performed well with broader audiences, but longtime MCU fans were split.

Some loved the the approach, while others thought it leaned too hard into silliness. The finale, in particular, sparked plenty of debate.

Even the show’s head writer, Jessica Gao, has been upfront about how challenging it was to land the ending. During a 2022 interview, she admitted the creative team wrestled with how to wrap things up in a way that felt true to the show.

“We really, really struggled with the finale. We started off doing a lot of versions of the finale that were much more just like straight and very, very Marvel movie, you know, and it just never felt right for us to just end in a big set piece fight, and take out the bad guy, and it just always felt like, ‘Oh, it’s a different show now.’”

Whether She-Hulk shows up in Avengers: Doomsday, pops into Secret Wars, or sits this one out entirely remains a mystery. Until the studio makes things official, fans are left reading between the lines.
