THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU Working Title Is Relevant to the Wider STAR WARS Universe

The working title for Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu has been revealed, and it is relevant to the wider Star Wars universe, The question is, does it hint at where the story could take us?

The Mandalorian & Grogu starts shooting in Los Angeles later this year and the working title is said to be "Thunder Alley." Now this could just be a cool sounding name from the franchise that they wanted to use for the production, but there’s always a chance that there could be meaning to it in regard to the story.

Thunder Alley initially appeared in the book Before The Storm, which is an Expanded Universe novel that was the first installment of The Black Fleet Crisis Trilogy. The description of Thunder Alley reads:

Thunder Alley was a region of space along the New Republic borders that several fleets rotated to patrol. In 16 ABY just before the Black Fleet Crisis, the Second Fleet had been patrolling Thunder Alley the longest of the fleets without home service and shipyard services. Admiral Gial Ackbar convinced Chief of State Leia Organa Solo to pull the Second Fleet out and replace it with the First Fleet, which had been serving as Coruscant’s defense force during the same time.

Elements of that could easily be implemented into the story for The Mandalorian and Grogu. It could possibly even lead to a clash between The Mandalorian and Grand Admiral Thrawn as he resurrects the Empire. Or, nothing will happen with it! We’ll just have to wait and see.

All we really know about the film is that the story will pick up in the aftermath of The Mandalorian Season 3. The Mandalorian & Grogu might also be the start of a trilogy that will also include Dave Filoni's untitled movie that will bring this whole New Republic saga together.

Favreau previously shared a statement with the film’s announcement, saying: “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

Do you think Thunder Alley will play some kind of role in the movie?
