Tom Holland Talks About SPIDER-MAN 4 Development Meetings; Says a Part of Him "Wants To Walk Away" From Spider-Man

Spider-Man star Tom Holland recently revealed that he’s already having meetings with Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios about developing Spider-Man 4. He explains that he’s sat down with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, producer Amy Pascal, and other executives to start figuring out what they want to do with a fourth film and if it’s something they should even do.

Well, they have come up with a plan and a reason to keep going, but at the same time, Holland also says there’s a part of him that wants to walk away from Spider-Man. During an interview with THR, he said:

"It was myself, Amy, [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige, [executive producer] Rachel [O'Connor], sometimes other executives from Marvel will sit in," he says. "It's a collaborative process. The first few meetings were about, 'Why would we do this again?' And I think we found the reason why. I'm really, really happy with where we're at in terms of the creative."

He went on to explain that he is still a little apprehensive about it:

"But I'm also a little apprehensive about it. There's a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there's a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life."

I get that, but at the same time, the fans really want to see this version of Spider-Man live on for a little longer. We all want to see what life is going to be like for him after the events of No Way Home. There’s still a story there with all of these characters, and fans are excited about seeing where that story goes. So, I’m glad that the creative team managed to come up with a plan to continue the story.

Obviously, Holland isn’t going to spill any details, and as of right now meetings have been paused due to the writers strike. The actor said: "I can't talk about that, but I can say that we have been having meetings. We've put the meetings on pause in solidarity with the writers. There's been multiple conversations had, but at this point it's very, very early stages."

What are your thoughts on the continuation of the Spider-Man franchise? Are you excited about what’s coming? What would you like to see happen in the next film?
