TOP GUN 3 Is in Development with Tom Cruise and Director Joseph Kosinski
Top Gun 3 is in development! After Top Gun: Maverick was such a massive hit for Paramount Pictures, the studio and the creative team are hoping to capture that money-making magic again.
Tom Cruise is set to return to the franchise, and according to the report, he’ll be joined by Maverick‘s Miles Teller and Glen Powell as well as producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison.
The director of Top Gun: Maverick, Joseph Kosinski, will also return to direct, and the co-writer of Maverick, Ehren Kruger, is currently writing the script. So, this sequel is 100% moving forward.
I want to be excited about this because I loved Top Gun: Maverick so much, but at the same time I wish they would’ve just left the franchise alone after Maverick because it was such a freakin’ great movie! I wonder if they will actually be able to capture lightning in a bottle again.
When previously talking about the possibility of a third Top Gun movie, Kosinski said: “Is there another story that is compelling enough that we need to go back? It seems to me at the end of this film that Maverick has some gas left in the tank. He’s not settling down.”
Hopefully, they managed to come up with another great story to tell with these characters, and that as they develop the film, they will be able to reach the bar of excellence that was set by Top Gun: Maverick.
It’s said that Top Gun 3 could be Cruise’s next project after he’s done shooting Mission: Impossible 8.
