TRON 3 Is Now in Production and a Photo From the Set Has Been Shared
The long-awaited Tron 3 movie is now in production, and a photo from the set has surfaced featuring a production chair with the film’s logo. It’s been said in the past that the title of this movie would be Tron: Ares, but the logo for the film is TR3N.
I was very excited about this film when it was going to be a direct sequel to Tron: Legacy with Joseph Kosinski directing, and the original cast returning. So much has changed since then. The movie is now being directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Kon Tiki) and Jared Leto is set to star.
There seemed to be a lot of moans and groans when Leto was cast in the film, but he is joined by Cameron Monaghan (Star Wars Jedi), Evan Peters (WandaVision), Greta Lee, and Jodie Turner-Smith (Without Remorse).
The story for this movie is going focus on the emergence of a sentient program that somehow crosses over into the human world. Leto will take on the role of Ares, which is the manifestation of the Tron program. Leto is said to be playing a video game programmer and tech CEO in what is described as the leading role.
Tron creator Steven Lisberger is also involved with the development of the film as a consultant, and he said: "The Tron team is hard at work. They are always hard at work. It's going to happen. My goal with these things in playing the Obi-Wan role is to say the one sentence that has an impact. I try to say something that is useful to them without getting into the weeds."
I hope that this next movie is going to be great, and hope that the creative team has come up with a great story. We’ll eventually find out!
