Chad Stahelski To Be Solo Director of JOHN WICK 2
Chad Stahelski was credited as the solo director of John Wick due to a ruling from the Directors Guild of America, but film fans know that he actually co-directed the kick-ass action movie alongside David Leitch, with whom he runs the action design team 87eleven (they've done stunts and action choreography for films like The Hunger Games, The Expendables, The Wolverine, and more). But despite Lionsgate's initial announcement that both men would be directing the upcoming John Wick 2, Collider reports that Stahelski will once again receive solo directing credit on the sequel — but that's because he's actually going to be the only one directing it this time. According to them, Leitch will move over into an executive producer role on this project as he searches for his own movie to direct on his own.
The duo have been linked to things like a DC Comics film adaptation, a spy thriller starring Charlize Theron, and an adaptation of the comic Bloodshot, so any of these could conceivably be Leitch's next project if the timing on any of them conflicts with John Wick 2. We'll keep our ears to the ground and let you know as soon as we hear how this plays out. Keanu Reeves will return to star, and no release date has been set yet.
