Andrew Garfield Says He Would "100% Come Back" to Play Spider-Man for a "Great Concept"
I liked Andrew Garfield in the role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man, and he had a great future ahead of him until The Amazing Spider-Man 2 failed to live up to expectations.
Sony Pictures had plans for two more solo movies, Sinister Six, and a different version of Venom before Tom Hardy came on board. But, all those projects were scrapped.
Garfield was given the opportunity to step back into the role with Spider-Man: No Way Home along with Tobey Maguire and it was such a fun experience seeing these different versions of Spider-Man on the big screen again.
After that movie was released, a lot of fans wanted to see Garfield and Maguire continue their adventures, and during a recent interview with Esquire, Garfield confirmed he would reprise his role again for a great story.
The actor admitted that he was "left dangling" when The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was shelved and said his MCU debut "was really healing for me."
When asked about reprising the role again, he said: "For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into."
Garfield added, "I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return."
Earlier this years it was rumored that Garfield had been approached by Marvel about joining Avengers: Secret Wars. It was also reported that Sony want Garfield and Maguire back for Spider-Man 4.
In another report, it was claimed that the continuation of Garfield’s Peter Parker story is definitely coming, but there’s a catch… it won’t coming in a standalone film.
It was explained: "I really don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up with this because the chances of him getting a full blown movie are very minimal. A continuation of his story is 100% coming but it’s not going to warrant another film at this point in time."
It will be interesting to see if anything comes of this. Sony Pictures is just leaving money on the table if they don’t movie forward with films for these two other Spider-Man characters. They just need a talented and creative team to develop great stories for them
