James Gunn's SUPERMAN: LEGACY May Include Apex Lex Luthor and He's Met With a GUARDIANS Actor for The Role
James Gunn is deep in the process of casting his Superman: Legacy movie. Some of the actors that he’s been meeting with were recently revealed. David Corenswet (Pearl) is the director’s top choice for Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan, Samara Weaving, Emma Mackey, and Phoebe Dynevor are in the running for Lois Lane.
It was also revealed that Nicholas Hoult was up for the role of Lex Luther, however, another report from The Wrap suggests that the DC Studios film will include Apex Lex Luthor, and that “Gunn has been seeing Black actors for the part.” In the comics, Apex Lex Luthor had a hybrid human/Martian body and it’s said that he “could physically go toe-to-toe with Superman.” However, the report says “it’s unclear if the Lex Luthor in Gunn’s film is actually Apex Lex Luthor.”
According to Entertainment journalist Justin Kroll, Gunn has reportedly discussed the Lex Luthor role with a Guardians of the Galaxy actor. This makes me wonder if the actor he met with is Chukwudi Iwuji, who played The High Evolutionary in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but that’s just speculation on my part. It’s not hard to imagine Iwuji in the role of Lex.
Superman: Legacy will introduce a new version of Superman, and it will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Who would you like to see in the role of Apex Lex Luthor in the movie?
