Keanu Reeves Shares His Thoughts on John Wick Finding Happiness

John Wick’s life is one that is filled with sadness and regret. He’s gone through so much and lost the person that he loves most, his wife. While he tried to leave his life as an assassin behind him, he was pulled back in when his dog Daisy was killed. Since then, he made a lot of enemies and he’s been on the run and fighting for his life ever since.

The big question is, will John Wick ever find any kind of peace or happiness? Keanu Reeves was recently asked in an interview by CB what happiness looks like for Wick, and his response was pretty bleak because happiness for Wick doesn’t exist. The actor shared:

"I guess it would have to be a fantasy film, because his wife would be alive and they could live happily ever after.”

That’s such a heartbreaking answer! John Wick: Chapter 4 takes Wick on a pretty insane journey. He’s trying to fight his way out from under the High Table and they aren’t making it easy for him. They are hell-bent on ridding the world of John Wick “once and for all.”

So what happens!? Well, you’ll just have to wait and watch the movie! If Wick does manage to fight his way out, what would life be like for him? Even if he’s not truly happy, what would he do with his life? Where would he go? And how long would it last before he was pulled back in again?

I believe that we will eventually get a John Wick: Chapter 5, but for now Reeves and director Chad Stahelski are taking a break from the franchise. They are going to give it a rest. The director shared:

"In our minds, Keanu and I are done for the moment. We're going to give John Wick a rest. I'm sure the studio has a plan. If everyone loves it and it goes kooky, then we'll take a quiet minute. Wicks always, for some weird reason, always get the latest release date in Japan. It's always like, three months later. If it's the same this time, we'll do a Japanese tour and release the movie in September. Keanu and I will take the long trip to Tokyo, we'll sit in the Imperial Hotel Scotch Bar and go, 'What do you think?' We'll have a couple 20-year-old whiskies and write some ideas on napkins. If those ideas stick, maybe we'll make a movie."

While we wait for the next chapter, we’ve still got John Wick: Chapter 4 to get through, the spinoff film Ballerina, and the TV prequel series, The Continental. Those should keep us busy and entertained for a while!
