Mads Mikkelsen in The Running To Play Doctor Doom in Marvel's FANTASTIC FOUR
Of course, Mads Mikkelsen is in the running to play Doctor Doom in Marvel’s Fantastic Four! This is a villainous role that he would be great in! But, there’s always the weird fact that he also played the villain Kaecilius in Doctor Strange.
This recent report comes from John Campea, who says that Mikkelsen is one of many actors being eyed for the role, so he’s not a lock. But, if he did end up being cast, I doubt anyone would complain. Campea said:
“What [his source] confirmed to me is [Marvel] has talked to Mads Mikkelsen [about] Doom. Now, to be clear, I’m sure they talked to a dozen people. They did not tell me that Mads Mikkelsen has been cast as Doom. Not at all. But they were able to confirm to me that Mads Mikkelsen is one of the people they talked to for Doom.”
While Mikkelsen is awesome, I don’t understand why Marvel is going out and looking to cast actors who have already played characters in their films. Before Pedro Pascal was cast as Reed Richards in the film, they were looking at casting Jake Gyllenhaal in the role, and he played Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Then there was also Gemma Chan, who played both Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel and Sersi in Eternals.
There has reportedly been talk that Marvel was looking at replacing Kang The Conqueror with Doctor Doom, but even if that doesn’t happen, Doom will be one of the many big bad villains set up in the MCU, and I hope that he wreaks havoc!
Other rumored members include Venessa Kirby (Napoleon) as Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman, along with Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm aka the Thing, Javier Bardem and Antonio Banderas are also up for Galactus.
Fantastic Four will be directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision) from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, who was brought in to re-write the script originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
As a project in Phase Six of the MCU, Fantastic Four is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025.
