Marvel Studios Releases Statement Addressing Production Delays Due to Strike

As you know both the writer’s and actor’s unions are on full-on strike mode and pretty much every high-profile project in developing in Hollywood has been halted. These include all the Marvel Studios productions such as Deadpool 3, Daredevil: Born Again, Agatha: Coven of Choas, Captain America: Brave New World, Wonder Man, and Thunderbolts. It’s a pretty crazy time right now in Hollywood!

Marvel Studios bosses Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito have gone ahead and issued a joint statement to their staff that addresses the production delays that are caused by the simultaneous strikes of WGA and SAG-AFTRA. They are obviously disappointed with the delays, but at the same time recognized that these challenges are part of the business. They said:

“We recognize how much you’ve all done on your specific projects and it’s disappointing when carefully laid plans have to shift, but constant change is the nature of the production business, and our teams are no stranger to unexpected challenges and rising to meet them. We deeply appreciate all your efforts to make the best of the situation, and we can all hope that a new agreement will be finalized soon so we can resume the great work we have in process.”

I’m sure that one day the unions will be able to make a deal they are happy with and get back to work. But, that may not happen anytime soon. It seems like the two sides are so far apart on things that coming to some kind of compromise is going to be hard and take some time. This is a big one, the writers and actors are in it for the long haul.
