Marvel's New DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Director's Offer Update on the Series, Saying "It Is Day Zero"
The new directors hired to take over for Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, have offered an update about how far along the production is on the series. As you know, Marvel Studios didn’t like the way the series was turning out and during the writers’ strike, they fired the creative team.
Dario Scardapane, who worked on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan as well as Netflix’s Marvel show The Punisher, was later hired as the showrunner for the series.
During an interview with The Wrap, Benson and Moorhead talked a bit about the new series, and after joking that they had only just found out they have an office to use, they revealed that they are now focused on studying all the Daredevil source material they can. Moorhead explained:
“It is day zero. We’re currently just consuming Daredevil content, not just the Netflix show but all the possible material. We’re just making our stew of information nice and thick.”
So, there’s still a long way to go before the new creative team starts reshaping what the Daredevil: Born Again series will be. I just hope that they can attain the same level of awesomeness as the Netflix series, which set the bar pretty high.
There have been some rumors regarding the story that the series will tell, but with the show in the middle of a creative overhaul, anything can change.
Charlie Cox will return to the role of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in the series, and he’ll be joined by Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk. It also includes Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michael Gaston, Arty Froushan, and Clark Johnson in undisclosed roles.
