Marvel's SECRET INVASION Director Talks About The Series Describing it as a "Six-Hour Movie"

It seems like Marvel fans are pretty excited about the upcoming series Secret Invasion, which sees Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury embark on a mission to save the world from an invasion of Skrulls. He’s made it very clear in the trailer that this is a task that he will have to take on alone because this time… it’s personal.

One of the directors of the series, Ali Selim, recently spoke with SFX magazine about the six-episode series, which he describes as "a six-hour movie unto itself."

He went on to say: "When it ends, I hope you feel satiated and complete, and as Marvel does so excellently, you also feel like 'Oh, it could go in this direction.' Nick Fury is alive and continues to battle, I don’t think that’s a spoiler alert. And there are some characters that are no longer with us and some characters that live to see another challenge. I would love to see that challenge become season two."

So, it seems like there’s a chance that we could eventually see more of Nick Fury in the future. It all depends on when Marvel wants to throw him into a story. But, Secret Invasion will most likely be the only standalone story that Nick Fury will get.

The story is set in the present-day MCU, “Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”

The series also stars Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, with Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.

Based on Brian Michael Bendis, Leinil Francis Yu, Mark Morales, and Laura Martin’s comic book series, Secret Invasion is executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot), with Let Him Go director Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim (The Looming Tower) set as directors.

Secret Invasion will premiere on June 21st, exclusively on Disney+.
