Radio Silence Reportedly Not Directing SCREAM VII and Christopher Landon Might Take Over
It looks like the directing team behind the Scream revival will not be returning to direct Scream VII. The news comes from Bloody-Disgusting, who reports that while the next sequel is definitely in the works, Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett “won’t be back to direct Scream VII.”
They go on to report that director Christopher Landon, who worked on films such as Happy Death Day and Freaky, may take over the directing duties. He’s currently in talks with the studio. I liked what Radio Silence has been doing with the franchise, but I think Landon would also be a solid fit for the franchise.
The report goes on to say: “We’re told Radio Silence was very interested in directing Scream VII but unfortunately they’ve been busy with their upcoming Universal Studios monster movie, which was recently filming under a shroud of secrecy.”
When Radio Silence took on the Universal Monster project, I wondered if they would actually return to direct Scream VII. Now we know that they won’t be due to how the production schedule worked out.
There are no details on that Universal Monster movie, but the movie stars Melissa Barrera, Alisha Weir, Dan Stevens, Kevin Durand, Kathryn Newton, Giancarlo Esposito, and Will Catlett. The film doesn’t even have an official title.
