THE FLASH Director Andy Muschietti Is DC Studios' Top Choice to Helm THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD
Andy Muschietti will go down as one of the directors that made one of the best DC films ever with the upcoming film The Flash. With that being the case, it’s not surprising that DC Studios’ heads James Gunn and Peter Safran would want to keep working with him. He’s just a talented filmmaker and storyteller.
THR is now reporting that Muschietti is the "top choice" to direct the previously announced Batman movie The Brave and the Bold. While the filmmaker is the top choice, there is no official deal in place. I imagine the studio won’t be moving forward on any of these future DC projects until after the writer’s strike ends.
The Brave and the Bold will be inspired by Grant Morrison's beloved Batman comics run, and will put a focus on Bruce Wayne's relationship to his biological son, Damian Wayne. This is said to be one of Gunn and Safran’s favorite projects.
When talking about this project, Gunn said: “So this is the introduction of the DCU Batman, Bruce Wayne, and also introducing our favorite Robin, Damian Wayne, who is a little son of a bitch, assassin murderer, who he unwittingly takes on, who's Batman's actual son that he doesn't know exists for the first eight to 10 years of his life, and he brings into his life and this is a story. It's a very strange sort of father son story about the two of them. And it's based on Grant Morrison's run on the Batman. There's a couple of comic book writers that have been exceptionally influential on our stuff and Grant Morrison and Tom King are probably the two primary ones.”
I would actually like to see Muschietti jump on board and direct The Brave and the Bold. I loved what he did with The Flash, and I think he would do something really cool and awesome with a Batman movie! He already got to play with two different Batman characters in The Flash, it makes sense for him to play with a third.
