The Live-Action SHE-RA Series Moves Forward at Amazon MGM Studios as They Hire a Writer
Over three years ago, it was announced that Amazon MGM Studio was going to be developing a live-action She-Ra series. Well, that series is moving forward as the studio has hired a writer and producer.
Heidi Schreck has joined the project as writer and executive producer. Nicole Kassell is still attached to direct and executive produce with Robin Sweet also executive producing, along with DreamWorks Animation.
The logline for the show describes it as “an epic fantasy series about an orphaned young woman who leads a revolution to save her planet from annihilation.”
Schreck previously worked on shows like Billions and Nurse Jackie at Showtime, Dispatches from Elsewhere at AMC, and the Amazon series I Love Dick, starring Kathryn Hahn and Kevin Bacon.
She-Ra definitely seems like a different kind of project for her and it will be interesting to see what she does with it and how she crafts the story and plays with the characters.
This is the second live-action Master of the Universe project that Amazon MGM Studios is developing. They are also currently working on the Masters of the Universe movie, which is currently in development with director Travis Knight.
Nicholas Galitzine (Purple Hearts, Red, White & Royal Blue, The Idea of You) is set to star as Prince Adam/He-Man, Camila Mendes (Riverdale) will play his right-hand woman Teela, and Alison Brie (GLOW, Community) is Skeletor's second-in-command, Evil-Lyn. Jared Leto is also rumored to be playing Skeletor.
In Masters of the Universe, “10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia.
“After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.
“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
Masters of the Universe is being produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films for release exclusively in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.
I’m really curious to see how these projects turn out. What would you like to see from a live-action She-Ra series?
