Tom Cruise Set to Star in Untitled Film for WB From the Director of THE REVENANT Alejandro Iñárritu
Tom Cruise has jumped on board to star in his first film project under his new partnership with Warner Bros. The untitled movie is being directed by Alejandro Iñárritu, the director of The Revenant, and it will be produced by Legendary Entertainment.
Iñárritu will direct from a script that he co-wrote last year with Sabina Berman as well as Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone, who also worked with him on Birdman. As you might imagine, this is a big project for the studio, and they are not revealing any story details. All we know is that it will be an original story.
Cruise has been on the hunt for another film project to attach himself to, and he’s been looking for something with a little more prestige, a project that will showcase his acting chops and not require him to risk his life performing some kind of insane stunt. But, who knows! Maybe he’ll find himself wrestling a real bear! Regardless of what this project is, it’s exactly what Cruise was looking for, and right after he met with the director, he wanted in.
This next film will mark Inarritu’s first major studio film since directing The Revenant. As for Cruise, he is also currently attached to Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two, he’s got that project that he will shoot in space, a gnarly R-rated movie he’s developing, he’s in talks to join Quentin Tarantino’s The Movie Critic, then Top Gun 3 is in development.
