Two Other Actors in the Running for Superman in SUPERMAN: LEGACY Revealed
This past weekend it was revealed that there are three actors in the running for Clark Kent/Superman in James Gunn’s upcoming film Superman: Legacy. The top choice on the list is David Corenswet (Pearl, Hollywood and The Politician). The other two actors weren’t included in the initial report.
But, according to Deadline, the two other actors in the running Jacob Elordi and Andrew Richardson. Elordi has been in films such as Netflix’s The Kissing Booth franchise and HBO’s Euphoria. Richardson has appeared in projects such as Daughter of the Bride and Killer Among Us.
I like that Gunn is looking to cast an unknown actor in this role, but I out of the three actors listed, I hope that Corenswet gets it, as it looks like he would be the best fit for the role.
It was also already reported that Rachel Brosnahan, of Amazon’s acclaimed The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, is up for the role of Lois Lane. I really like that casting, but other actresses in the running include Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton), and Emma Mackey (Sex Education).
Then there’s Nicholas Hoult (Renfeild). who is up for the role of classic DC villain Lex Luthor. It’s explained that “Hoult’s name has been swirling around Legacy for several weeks now with some theorizing he was up for Superman.”
The movie will introduce a new version of Superman, and it will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman: Legacy will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1, and that will be followed by The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl, Swamp Thing, and more.
Pre-production on the movie kicked off last month, with costumes, production design “and more” now “up and running.”
