Vincent D'Onofrio Discusses SPIDER-MAN 4 Kingpin Rumors and Possible Role in AVENGERS: SECRET WARS

Daredevil: Born Again star Vincent D'Onofrio recently addressed the rumors he could return as The Kingpin in Spider-Man 4. The actor also shared his thoughts on Kingpin possibly appearing in Avengers: Secret Wars. Kingpin could have a long life in the MCU, there are a lot of cool and interesting directions that they could take the character.

One of the big rumors regarding Spider-Man 4 is that it could see Spider-Man teaming up with Daredevil to face off with Kingpin. That would make one hell of a movie! When asked about that rumor during an interview with CB, D'Onofrio carefully responded, saying:

"I think if the powers that be want that to happen then it will happen, you know? I think there certainly hasn't been any kind of talk that it's not gonna happen. I mean, to me that's the direction that we should go in...but who knows? You know, you get these calls and they're like, 'Oh we're doing this now.' I'm like, 'Oh, okay.' You know, it's like that."

It seems like a logical direction to take things, but who knows what Marvel is looking at doing!? At this point, it’s hard to tell, and we’ll just have to wait and see how the story for Daredevil: Born Again plays out. D’Onofrio was then asked about possibly appearing in Avengers: Secret Wars, and his response to that was:

"I don't see why he has to just be in one situation. Part of the storytelling in Echo is that his reach has gotten further. He's gone from just controlling Hell's Kitchen and certain stuff coming in from the ports of Manhattan, and the veins of his business are running wider across the country and I think eventually across the world.

"So I think he is sort of in every place. I think that that's the way I see it. I see it as Vanessa and him being quite powerful, and so I think I really do mean everywhere. I love the fact that [Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum compared Kingpin to Thanos], by the way, because I didn't know that he said that until you told me and that means that there's lots of jobs to come. That's a good thing."

In the Secret Wars comic book, Kingpin gets together a bunch of Marvel villains to watch the destruction of the Marvel Universe in the Bar With No Name.

I would love to see more of Kingpin in the MCU, I would love to see an epic story arc for him. He’s always been such an interesting villain, so I’m happy to see that Marvel Studios is still playing with him. I just hope we get to see his story continue to grow. I really just want to see Spider-Man and Daredevil team up to attempt to take him down.
