Zack Snyder Says GEARS OF WAR and HALO Would Make Great Incredible Movies

Director Zack Snyder recently sat down with IGN to talk about Rebel Moon, and during the interview the filmmaker was asked about what gaming properties he thinks would make great movies. The two films that he brought up were Gears of War and Halo. He said of the properties:

"I mean, Gears has always come up in sort of our circle, I was a fan of the game. I was always interested in the Halo franchise… They of course kind of made that, but it was something I always thought could be incredible."

These are projects that Snyder has obviously thought about doing over the years. I imagine if the opportunity presented itself to him to helm either of these films, he’d jump at the chance. Snyder has such a slick cinematic visual style that would fit perfectly for these kinds of projects.

Earlier this year it was announced that Netflix was developing a live-action Gears of War movie with Jon Spaihts (Dune) writing the script. There’s been no update on the project since then, though. There have been several attempts over the years to get a film adaptation of this hardcore video game off the ground. Both Dave Bautista and Terry Crews have expressed their desire to star in the film.

As for Halo, that Paramount+ series was a huge disappointment. Halo could seriously make an epic film series, and it’s so crazy to me that that hasn’t happened! Halo would make for one hell of a cinematic event if it was done right. Hopefully, one day, someone actually does it right.
