Zack Snyder's REBEL MOON Movie Is Getting a "Huge" and "Immersive" Video Game
Zack Snyder's next movie is Rebel Moon, which as you know, is based on a Star Wars pitch he once made to Lucasfilm. He’s got big plans to build a Rebel Moon franchise with multiple films, and now we’ve also learned it’s getting a video game!
Snyder revealed the news himself during an interview with The Nerd Queens. This apparently isn’t going to be a cheap tie-in game either as he describes the RPG as being “huge” and “immersive.” He also shared that he’s always wanted to produce an RPG, so I guess he’s doing it!
He didn’t share many details on it, what developer is working on it, or even what platforms it will be available on. But, he says the scale of the game is "ridiculous.” With the movie being set up at Netflix, though, it would make sense that Netflix’s gaming division is developing it.
That’s pretty much all we know about the game! Snyder isn’t really supposed to be talking about it. But, I’m curious to see what this thing turns out to be.
Rebel Moon is set in a “peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. They dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand against the Tyrant.”
Snyder previously talked about the project saying: “This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan. It's my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out."
The movie stars Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Doona Bae, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Rupert Friend, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, Anthony Hopkins, and Alfonso Herrera.
Rebel Moon will release on Netflix on December 22nd, 2023.
