Venkman here - It seem marvel is not looking to bring back the team of writers that wrote the first 'Iron Man' mega hit of death that has banked $566 Million bucks! It was written by Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Now it seems Marvel is in final negotiations with Justin Theroux to write the sequel to 'Iron Man'. It seems he has writing credit for the upcoming film 'Tropic Thunder'. Hollywood Reporter says Justin Theroux is:

Known primarily as an actor -- he's played everything from Jesus H. Christ ("The Ten"), John Hancock (HBO's "John Adams") and Evil DJ ("Zoolander") to the hapless director Adam Kesher in David Lynch's "Mulholland Dr." -- Theroux is on a career-changing tear. Last year he directed his first film, "Dedication," which the Weinstein Co. released.

I have to say I am a bit surprised. I thought for sure they would bring back the whole team for the sequel but I guess Marvel has other plans. If they think he can pull it off then great!       

Venkman here with some pretty sweet ass news. We heard that Quentin Tarantino wanted to cast Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine a.k.a Aldo the Apache, which is a great casting choice and one I will stand behind if it all goes down. Variety says that Tarantino actually met with Pitt in France but no deals have been made. But here is the next bit of casting and I love this one. Tarantino is looking at Leonardo DiCaprio to play Col. Hans Landa a.k.a The Jew Hunter! Holy crap! Can you imagine!? These two amazing actors in a Quentin Tarantino film! Hell yes! Here is the news from Variety:

After the director met Brad Pitt in France on Tuesday, those studios are already salivating over the expectation that Tarantino will land Pitt to play the key role of Aldo Raine. They'll be even keener if Tarantino's plan to meet Leonardo DiCaprio for another lead role goes well Thursday. Tarantino wants DiCaprio to play the role of Hans Landa.

So there it is folks. It will be interesting to see who else gets cast in this film. I hope Pitt and DiCaprio take the parts. What do you think?

 

Venkman here - It looks like Entertainment weekly caught up with Michael bay to ask him afew questions regarding the recent movies he has been involved with. Mainly 'Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen', which most of us are looking forward to. You just have to know, going into the movie that the dialogue and story is going to suck, then you can sit back and enjoy the special effects and action that made the first transformaers such a bit hit. Here is what The Bay has to say about Transformers:

What can you tell us about Transformers 2? Or, better yet, what will you tell us? MICHAEL BAY: When we were writing the script, I said to the writers, "I hate sequels that try to make it to the third movie. Pretend like we're never having a third movie, so let's go for broke on the second one. I hate those cliffhangers! Let's just make this movie stand on its own." I really feel this movie is not a forced sequel. I think the script is really good, and I think it's got a lot of new stuff in it. There are a lot of rumors out there, but we've released a lot of fake stuff. We've done a really good job of keeping things secret.

Wow! If The Bay thinks the script is good we are in for an eye candy treat with no meaning or substance! Now on to the 'Friday the 13th' remake

So are you following the same plot as the very first Friday the 13th? It's a little different. I don't want to give it away because of the Internet crazies.

Huh. Thats funny... the Internet crazies. I'm not sure if we should take that as an insult or a compliment.

Speaking of those fans, what do you say to people who are worried that an update of Friday the 13th will ruin the original? There are always haters out there, and you can't get rid of that. We try to be faithful, and we're fans ourselves. It's like when I did Transformers - I listened to the fans, you know, but you still have to make your own movie by respecting what was done and trying to give it a whole new twist. How have you given it a new twist? You're just not going to believe the first 12 minutes! It's a twist in itself.

I'll admit, I'm a hater. But I will still go see it because I love horror movies. So hes got me there. Here is what The Bay says about the Dark Knight Script:

Finally, I just have to ask, did you happen to see the "Michael Bay's Rejected The Dark Knight Script" floating around online? [Laughs] That's complete bulls---! I might've read one line of that. Did you find it funny at all? It's just, where do people find all of this time?

The Bay obviously can't find the time to write a decent script either. Sooooo... you know. Ya gotta love The Bay. He is who he is.        

Louis Leterrier recently sat down and gave an interview with a French website called EcranLarge.com. In this interview he talks a lot about his next film "Clash of the Titans", which I am really looking forward to. After watching this interview he gave, I am even more excited for this movie to get made! I have posted a few highlights below and what he has to say!

French Guy - Will There be a Kraken? Leterrier - Of course there will be a Kraken! But a different Kraken. There will be much more. In the Original film there were no Clash and no Titans. Now you will see The "Clash" of the "Titans". People say that it will be filmed like 300, it's not true. It will be photorealistic, with a big budget. I want to do an homage to Ray Harryhausen. He's still alive and will be part of the film."

Wow! I love this! He is actually going to bring in Ray Harryhausen to be part of the film! I couldn't be more happy that he is making this happen! In regards to how Letterrier got to direct the 'Clash of the Titans Remake he says:

"In the beginning, Stephen Norrington was the director of this project. I called him. He had a problem finding a new trick for this remake. He didn't grow up watching Clash of the Titans [like I did]. So I called him, we share the same agent, and I asked him: do you really want to do it? He didn't want to make a new League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. So I told him, can I do it? And he said yes. So I told Warner Brothers - Desmond Davis, well, he's not the greatest director, but there was Ray Harryhausen and great actors and this movie is a childhood memory. If I do it, it will be different. It's still Perseus myth, but maybe to begin a franchise of Greek mythology. Because I love that! It's monsters and adventures..."

A franchise of Greek Mythology. How awesome is that! This could be huge! If Stephen didn't know what to do with it I am so glad it is out of his hands, he would have destroyed the movie! The cool thing is Leterrier wanted this project, and did the leg work to make it happen, which means he is as just excited to make it as we are watch it! He goes on to say:

"I don't want to do the same as the original... You have to change the mythology. I want to make adventure films because I want to see them! I want to make them with a new point of view. I've just made the remake of Ang Lee's Hulk, but it's not the same film. It will be the same situation for Titans."

Could you really ask for a better director on this movie? 'The Incredible Hulk' was an amazing movie and the guy obviously knows what he wants to do with 'Clash of the Titans'! Louis Leterrier has assured me that this movie is going to be everything I hoped it would be and more. - Dr. Venkman    

Venkman Here - and of course I am excited for this video game to come out! Ghostbusters is one of my favorite movies! Yesterday I posted an interview with the guy behind the game and some footage of what the game play will be like. Today G4TV has released the full 'Ghostbusters' video game trailer! It is really interesting because they use actual film footage from the original movie in the game trailer. It was like they had to show people where this game originated from. It was most likely something the marketing team came up with to educate a younger audience that may have never heard of the movie 'Ghostbusters', which just seems impossible in my head! What ever the reason it was kinda wierd, but still cool so check it out below!

This awesome little Animated Star Wars movie might just end up being better than Star Wars Episodes I and II. And just in case you don't know! I just want to remind you that this Clone Wars movie is kicking off the 'Satr Wars' adventure TV series on Cartoon Network and TNT in the fall. Venkman here with some interesting news. I knew when Universal and the production team made 'Wanted' they always intended to do a sequel, but now that its actually happening... wow. I loved the movie 'Wanted'! The film was as amazing, kick ass, and adrenalin fueled as a movie can get. the story was even good! I just was not sure how they are going to make a decent sequel. All the main characters were killed off at the end except the hero! But it is happening and here are a few of the details. Marc Platt is producing, Michael Brandt and Derek Hass are writing and Timur Bekmambetov will direct. So we got the whole team back together again for the sequel which is great! Here is what Variety reports:

Proceeding at quicker pace is "Wanted 2," though Platt acknowledged that the creative team is still working on the challenge of continuing the story after most of the principal characters -- including Angelina Jolie -- ended the original in no position for an encore. But the film was designed as a potential franchise, Langley said, and it is still performing strongly after grossing $192.6 million worldwide. The intention is to get James McAvoy back into gun slinging mode. "The writers are at work already, and those creative discussions are taking place," said Platt, who is producing once again with Jim Lemley.

So the production is in motion, and they want to bring the whole cast back which is going to be really hard since they are all dead. So what could the possibly do for a sequel? Well here is a little rumor info I found over at CHUD that sounds promising:

One idea that has been floating around behind the scenes is making Wanted 2 essentially The Godfather Part II - no, not a movie almost as great as The Dark Knight, but rather a film that juxtaposes the continuing adventures of Wesley with the story of his father. That would allow Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie to come back for round two, despite both taking bullets to the dome.

I like that idea! It is a great way they could continue the story and still have everyone that died in the first one in the sequel! If they don't roll with that, the other alternative would be to bring them all back from the dead either resurrected perfect beings or zombies. Whatever works. I like the Godfather 2 route though. Anyone else got any good ideas to move the story forward?  

Venkman here with some cool news! During the E3 Convention it will be announced today that Warner Bros. and Capcom will be taking the Video game 'Lost Planet' to a whole new level of greatness and turn it into a movie! I am a fan of the game which was really fun to play. David Hayter who recently did 'Watchman' will write the screenplay. Here is what Variety reports:

Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul will produce through Seaside Entertainment, the shingle they formed to produce fantasy fare. "Lost Planet," which was released in Japan in late 2006 and North America in early 2007, has sold over 2 million units. A sequel is believed to be in the works. The vidgame revolves around an expedition to an ice planet that harbors an energy source with the potential to save mankind. WB will have worldwide distribution rights on "Lost Planet." Capcom is becoming an increasingly active participant in movie transfers of its vidgame hits. The publisher so far has had "Resident Evil" turned into three films, with a fourth in the works. It is currently partnered with Hyde Park Entertainment on a live action version of its game "Street Fighter" and has a feature version of "Onimusha" at Paramount.

Avi Arad is a name I haven't seen in the news in awhile. If you don't know he use to be The Man over at Marvel. It will be interesting to see how this movie ends up. Hollywood is loving its Video Game and Comic Book adaptations. Why people haven't got there shit together yet to do a Halo movie is ridiculous. One day. I think a 'Lost planet' Movie could be really kick ass movie if its done right!

Venkman here - A new trailer for 'The Spirit' hit the web recently, which you can watch with those crazy awesome Film School Rejects. I have to say after watching this new trailer it lowered my excitement level for this movie. I don't know what it was, but it just didn't flow well for me. I really think they need to cut a better trailer for this movie. Don't get me wrong I am excited for the movie I just didn't like this new movie trailer for Frank Millers 'The Spirit'. Venkman here - Wow! This 'Ghostbusters' video game looks great! This looks like its going one fun game to play! I love the fact that everyone from the original films are going to voice their characters. Except for Rick Moranis anyway. I guess he didn't want to get in on the action. The graphics look amazing and the story has got to be good because it was written by Dan Akroyed and Harold Ramis. This little interview/clip comes from G4TV and the E3 Convention! We sure have come a long way from the 8 bit Nintendo version of 'Ghostbusters'. Hell! I still have that game!

I guess The Weinstein Company does. As you Know the Weinsteins have obviously made some bad decisions and now they aren't going to be able to float on their own anymore. So what have the done? According to Variety The Weinstein Company formed a partnership with Showtime and 'Scream 4' is part of the deal! They also are going to be making 'Piranha 3D' 'Scanners' Remake, 'The Seven Samurai', 'The Six Billion Dollar Man', 'Nine', and 'Inglorious Bastards'. They have some real winners in that film slate don't they? I am baffled by 'Scream 4' though! I seriously doubt anyone from the original 3 films will be back to reprise their roles. There are no details on the story but here is how I think it will all go down. It will be a new set of teenagers living in the same town with the legend of the original Ghost Face lingering in the air. Then one day a new Ghost Face appears and starts killing people once again. Randy would roll over in his grave if he found out they were making a Scream 4! You think the new kids will find a video diary that Randy may have kept to get them through the film, or will they end up throwing a new film geek in the mix? Maybe the Weinstiens should start making good movies again and marketing them right. 'Inglorious Bastards' is the only movie on the list I am looking forward to. Venkman Out!

Venkman here - I just wanted to let you know that the new trailer for 'Ghost Town' has hit the web! The movie Stars Ricky Gervais who is freakin funny! Greg Kinnear and Tea Leoni. The movie was written and directed by David Koepp who recently wrote 'Indiana Jones and the Kindom of the Crystal skull'... so... you know. The movie looks like it could be really funny, at the same time it looks like "one of those movies". The only reason I will see this movie is its got Ricky Gervais in it and the role looks funny. Not sure how the movie as a whole will turn out though. Here is a little summary from IMDB:

In the romantic comedy "Ghost Town," Bertram Pincus (Ricky Gervais), is a man whose people skills leave much to be desired. When Pincus dies unexpectedly, but is miraculously revived after seven minutes, he wakes up to discover that he now has the annoying ability to see ghosts. Even worse, they all want something from him, particularly Frank Herlihy (Greg Kinnear) who pesters him into breaking up the impending marriage of his widow Gwen (Téa Leoni). That puts Pincus squarely in the middle of a triangle with spirited result.

Venkman Here and Jon Heder is at it again! He is once again going to play the same guy he has played in every movie he has been in so far but this time he will have nerdy super powers. ~Sigh~ I don't know. I like Napoleon Dynamite but he has played that same character in every movie it just isn't funny anymore. Jon heder needs to reinvent himself somehow, if he can.  So 'Loudermilk' has been set up to be made over at Rogue Pictures, and Craig Zobel has been set to re-write the screenplay and direct the film.

"Loudermilk" centers on a Napoleon Dynamite-like oddball who becomes contaminated with a substance that gives him what might arguably be considered superpowers. "That blessing does not come without its consequences and costs," Doug Heder said.

Oh brother. Its the Super Dynamite! Doug Heder is Jons Bro. They are producing the film throught their production company Greasy Entertainment. Variety also reports:

" 'Loudermilk' is definitely intended to set the tone for Greasy Entertainment," Doug Heder said. "Our goal has always been to be the low- to midbudget-range comedies. We want to specialize in that field -- obviously tapping into Jon's core audience from 'Napoleon Dynamite' and 'Blades of Glory' but really specializing in those kind of character-driven, less-expensive comedies."

Well, Whatever. I am obviously not excited at all about this movie. It looks like Jon has no intentions of reinventing himself. He will be Napoleon Dynamite the rest of his career. I would hate to get stuck as a type cast. But! He will keep doing it as long as the money keeps rolling in. Maybe I am just in a negative mood. What do you think? Is this a good movie idea or a bad one?

This is a movie I can't wait to see! I got the opportunity to read though the script yesterday thanks to our friends at Gone Elsewhere for making my wish come true. I loved this script! It was so freakin awesome! 'Inglorious Bastards' is going to be Quentin Tarantinos best movie of his career! I blazed through the script in about 2 hours. I was pulled right in the story and it never let me go. The characters that Tarantino builds in the story are the best he has ever created! The movie is very much going to be made in Tarantino fashion. He is going to play with different film styles and the way the script was written reveals how he has a couple different stories going on and in the end they all come together to create all kinds of chaos. After reading the script I understand what Tarantino meant when he talked about making 'Inglorious Bastards' a modern WWII movie. It is all in the style he wants to use. The dialogue used in the film is brilliant it is so fun to read I can only imagine how it will be executed on screen! I really don't want to ruin anything for anybody so I am not going to talk about the amazing story that the script tells but I do want to tell you about a few characters in the story: Col Lada a.k.a The Jew Hunter - This guy is a piece of work. He can be very pleasant, but is evil as hell. He explains his nick name himself:

"The feature that makes me such a effective hunter of the Jews, is, as, opposed to most German Soldiers, I can think like a Jew. Where they can only think like a German or more precisely, a German Soldier. Now if one were to determine what attribute the German people share with a beast, it would be the cunning a predatory instinct of a hawk..."

Lt. Aldo Raine a.k.a Aldo the Apache - He is the leader of The Bastards and you can't help but love this hick. I would really like to see Brad Pitt take this role.

"...I got a word of Warning to all would-be warriors. When you join my command, you take on debit. A debit you owe me, personally. Every man under my command, owes me one hundred Nazi scalps. And I want my scalps. And all y'all will git me, one hundred Nazi Scalps, taken from the heads of one hundred dead Nazi's... or you will die trying."

Sgt. Donnie Donowitz a.k.a The Jew Bear - This is my favorite character. Here is a guy that bought a Baseball bat before he went to war to beat Nazis with!

"I'm going through the neighborhood. If you have any loved ones in Europe, who's safety you fear for, I'd like you to write their name on my bat."

Shosanna - A Jewish girl in hiding from that Nazis. She runs a movie theater that shows German films. That is all I really want to reveal to you guys. I would tell you more but I don't want to ruin the movie for you. There are just so many details that go into the characters that make the story so amazing. If you want to know more then you will have to read the script yourself! And I just want to say that I absolutely love the ending of this script! I had such a fun time reading ‘Inglorious Bastards' and imagining what the movie is going to be like. It is going to be one hell of film!

Venkman Here - Paramount Pictures is moving forward with the sequel to School of Rock , which will be called 'School of Rock 2: America Rocks'. And yes everyone is back to work their magic! Jack Black will reprise his role, Richard Linklater who directed the first film will also direct this sequel, and Mike White will write the screenplay. Here is what Variety reports:

Mike White, who penned the 2003 comedy, is writing the screenplay, titled "School of Rock 2: America Rocks," which picks up with Finn leading a group of summer school students on a cross-country field trip that delves into the history of rock 'n' roll and explores the roots of blues, rap, country and other genres.

Sounds like it will be fun and educational. I thought the first film was great! But I really don't feel the need for a second School of Rock film. I am sure I will end up seeing it, but it is nothing I am getting overly excited about. Like any movie that goes into production I hope its good and ends up better than the first one.

Quarantine: Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles fire station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood-curdling screams and soon learn that a woman living there has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, Internet, television and cell phone access have been cut off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape. Quarantine opens in theaters everywhere October 17. This year's special them is "The Magic of Comics." Presenters include comics creator/director Frank Miller (Sin City, 300, The Spirit), Spongebob Squarepants creator Tom Kenney, and Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Gos, plus several other celebrities from comics, animation, and film. Other prestigious awards to be given out include the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award and the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award. The master of ceremonies is Bongo Comics' Bill Morrison.
