GODZILLA X KONG Director Adam Wingard Reportedly Being Eyed For SPIDER-MAN 4
Not long after it was revealed that Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire director Adam Wingard is not coming back to direct the next Godzilla movie, it’s being reported that he’s being eyed by Marvel for Spider-Man 4.
This news comes from insider scooper @MyTimeToShineH, and while Wingard’s name may have been mentioned as a possibility, I don’t think it will happen.
Wingard has a few other films in development right now including a ThunderCats movie, and an action movie titled Onslaught, which is said to be his next film. That film is shooting in the fall, which would take him out of the running.
He’s also actively working on his ThunderCats project, and offered an update on that, saying: "Simon [Barrett] and I are still actively working on the script. We finished our last draft basically right when I was going into production on [Godzilla x Kong] and we just had to put everything on hold. [But] right now we’re actively working on it again."
He went on to say that ThunderCats is one of his top priorities. But, we’ll see what happens! We’ll see how this all shakes out.
I’m not a fan of Wingard’s Godzilla and Kong movies, so I’d like to see him make a movie outside of that franchise. He made some solid films before that, so I hope as he moves forward with making movies, he is able to develop strong stories.
Other directors that have been rumored to be on the list include Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods), Sam Raimi (Spider-Man), Justin Lin (Fast and the Furious franchise), James Wan (Aquaman), John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein (Dungeons & Dragons), Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah (Batgirl, Ms. Marvel) and the highly unlikely Jon Favreau (Iron Man).
Who do you want to see Marvel hire to direct Spider-Man 4?
