OUTER BANKS Actress Madelyn Cline Reportedly in Talks to Play Supergirl in James Gunn's DCU
Earlier this week it was reported that James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy would introduce a new version of Supergirl in the DCU. This would lead to her own solo film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Now, a new report has surfaced from John Rocha on the latest episode of The Hot Mic, that Outer Banks and Glass Onion star Madelyn Cline is either in talks to play Kara Zor-El, or she is an actress that Gunn and Warner Bros. are considering for the part.
This is just a rumor, but the young actress would be great in the role. The 24-year-old actress definitely looks like Supergirl! She is the first name to come up to be rumored for the role, but there’s no doubt that Gunn is looking at several different young actresses for the role.
The film currently stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer.
It was also recently announced that Sara Sampaio, the Portuguese Victoria’s Secret model, has been cast as Eve Teschmacher, the assistant and sometimes mistress to the scheming villain Lex Luthor.
Superman: Legacy will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman: Legacy will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
What do you think about the possibility of Cline taking on the role of Supergirl?
