SUPERMAN: LEGACY: Rachel Brosnahan Says Lois Lane Is "Feisty" and Superman Has a "Sense of Humor"
Rachel Brosnahan was recently stopped on the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards where she was asked about James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy and taking on the role of the iconic character Lois Lane. So she teased her “Feisty” version of Lois and a version of Superman with a sense of humor.
While talking to the Associated Press Brosnahan shares her excitement for the film, and how they are looking to honor the source material:
"We have big shoes to fill. But we're excited to try to fill them. I think the best part about working on this has been that, from top to bottom, from James [Gunn] to Peter Safran, everyone at DC, and David [Corenswet]...we're all just nerds for this stuff.
"There's so much love and care that's being taken to make this film both a film that honours the source material and also justifies making another one."
In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, Brosnahan talked about her collaboration with Gunn and teased that Superman will have a sense of humor:
"I've really enjoyed the collaboration with James Gunn so far. Every single person involved with this production is such a perfect nerd for Superman. We all grew up watching the movies and some of us grew up reading the comics," the actress said. "I feel like it's being made with so much love. This Superman will have a sense of humour...we're excited to both put our own spin on things but also honour the material we love so much."
When asked to describe her take on Lois in three words, Brosnahan responded with, "Feisty. Dare I say, marvellous? And fiercely intelligent."
The film also stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer. There’s also Sara Sampaio, who has been cast as Eve Teschmacher, the assistant and sometimes mistress to the scheming villain Lex Luthor.
Superman: Legacy will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman: Legacy will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
