Bradley Cooper Reportedly Turned Down the Role of Lex Luthor in James Gunn's SUPERMAN: LEGACY
There’s been a lot of news recently regarding the actors who James Gunn has been meeting with for Superman: Legacy. In one of the reports, we learned that Gunn had met with at least one member of The Guardians of the Galaxy cast for a specific role.
We didn’t know who that actor was with the initial report but in a recent report from entertainment insider @MyTimeToShineH, we learned that Rocket Raccoon actor Bradley Cooper was offered the role Lex Luthor, but he reportedly turned it down.
This is just a rumor, I have no idea if there’s any truth to it, but I just don’t see Cooper in the role of Luthor, so I’m ok with him turning it down.
It was previously revealed that Nicholas Hoult was up for the role of Lex Luther, and in another repoir we learn that the movie could include Apex Lex Luthor, and, “Gunn has been seeing Black actors for the part.” In the comics, Apex Lex Luthor had a hybrid human/Martian body, and it’s said that he “could physically go toe-to-toe with Superman.” However, the report says “it’s unclear if the Lex Luthor in Gunn’s film is actually Apex Lex Luthor.”
As for the other actors that Gunn has been meeting with, David Corenswet (Pearl) is the director’s top choice for Clark Kent/Superman, and Rachel Brosnahan, Samara Weaving, Emma Mackey, and Phoebe Dynevor are in the running for Lois Lane.
Superman: Legacy will introduce a new version of Superman, and it will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
