David Arquette Will Return as Dewey in SCREAM 7

In a suprising bit of news, David Arquette is set to reprise his role as Dewey in Scream 7! Yep, somehow he will be coming back from the dead along with Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard, who are also believed to have been killed off i the franchise.

Details regarding how Dewy will come back and the film’s plot have yet to be revealed but there have been reports on what we can expect.

Dewey Riley was brutally killed by Amber Freeman, played by Oscar winner Mikey Madison in Scream VI. It’s going to be interesting to see how the character will be incorporated into the next film’s story.

Arquette will also join the previously announced legacy cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown.

Franchise newcomers include Joel McHale as Sidney’s husband, Isabel May, Mason Gooding, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, and Ethan Embry.

said that the next chapter of Scream will involve a "big time jump" following the events of the last movie. This is so that Sidney's children have grown to an appropriate slasher movie age.

It was also previously reported that Scream 7 "will have two main storylines, one about Sid and her friends from the neighborhood, and the second one about Sid's teen daughter Taylor (could be a codename) and her friends. Each of them will have to deal with Ghostface."

Sid and Gale will reportedly find themselves facing off with some kind of Ghostface cult.

Scream 7 will be directed by Kevin Williamson and released on February 27, 2026.
