DEADPOOL 3 Release Date Officially Delayed
The release of Marvel’s Deadpool 3 has been delayed. It’s been removed from its May 4, 2024 release date, and as of right now, no new date has been announced by Marvel Studios or 20th Century Studios.
I think we all knew this was coming because of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The news comes from Deadline, which says, “There’s just too much to do in regards to re-assembling crew, etc.”, and they wouldn’t be able to finish the film in time even if the strikes ended soon.
There’s been a ton of excitement surrounding this movie, especially with all of the crazy cast rumors spreading. A lot of people just want to see what in the hell director Shawn Levy has been cooking for this movie!
The confirmed cast includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Emma Corrin as the villain, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It was previously confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.
Rumored casting includes Brian Cox as William Striker, Halle Berry as Storm, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Famke Jensen as Jean Grey, Lewis Tan as Shatterstar, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Ben Affleck as Daredevil, Taylor Swift as Dazzler, Taron Edgerton as a different Wolverine, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Dafne Keen as Laura Howlett aka X23, Rebecca Romijn as Raven, Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom, Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Ian McKellen as Magneto. James Marsden may be returning to play Cyclops, along with Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth, Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine, Dafne Keen as X-23, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Then, of course, there’s Taylor Swift.
Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy saw this delay coming and previously said in an interview: "I don't even know if we officially have [a release date]. I know we were gonna be May 3. Certainly, the actors' strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk. We've shot half the movie. I've edited half the movie. We're dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year."
It looks like we’re just going to have to be a little more patient as Marvel and Disney continue to figure things out.
