DEADPOOL 3 Director Addresses Taylor Swift Dazzler Rumors and Says Release Date Is "in True Risk"
There are a lot of crazy rumors surrounding the cast of Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3. So many characters and actors have been rumored to pop up in this movie, but as of right now, most of these reports have not been confirmed. One of the big rumors right now involves Taylor Swift taking on the role of Dazzler.
Swift is one of the biggest trending names right now, and people want to know if this rumor is true or not. Well, during a recent interview with The Wrap, director Shawn Levy was asked about the rumor, but he was only willing to be coy about it. When talking about Swift fans, he said, “They sure are loud,” and then he addressed the rumor saying:
“I’m going across the board. ‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy. You’re going to have to wait and see.”
Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has previously talked about working with Taylor Swift, saying: “I would do anything for that woman. She’s a genius.” Then Levy recently compared Swift to Steven Spielberg and said she’d make a “hell of a director.” It seems like they would bring her on board if that’s something they wanted to do. But, we’ll see.
As for the release date, Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 3, 2024, but because of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, Levy feels like that release date is in jeopardy. When asked about the release date, he said:
“I wish I knew. I don’t even know if we officially have [a release date]. I know we were gonna be May 3. Certainly, the actors’ strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk. We’ve shot half the movie. I’ve edited half the movie. We’re dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year.”
The confirmed cast for Deadpool 3 includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Emma Corrin as the villain, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It was previously confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.
Rumored casting includes Brian Cox as William Striker, Halle Berry as Storm, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Famke Jensen as Jean Grey, Lewis Tan as Shatterstar, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Ben Affleck as Daredevil, Taylor Swift as Dazzler, Taron Edgerton as a different Wolverine, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Dafne Keen as Laura Howlett aka X23, Rebecca Romijn as Raven, Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom, Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Ian McKellen as Magneto. James Marsden may be returning to play Cyclops, along with Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth, Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine, Dafne Keen as X-23, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Regardless of who ends up in the movie, we know that it’s going to be a wild roller coaster ride of insanity.
