Marvel Studios Planted Fake Leaks Online For DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Cameos
We know that Deadpool & Wolverine is going to feature a ton of cameos. There have been a lot of rumors regarding these cameos and some of them have already been revealed in footage that has been released.
It turns out, though, that a lot of the reports that have been posted online may have contained fake leaks that Marvel planted to create misdirections on the internet.
During an interview with GamesRadar+, executive producer Wendy Jacobson shared: "There may or may not have been some subterfuge and misdirections on the internet or in-person in order to protect the secrecy."
Jacobson added: "I can neither confirm nor deny any cameos in this film but I will say, in terms of characters that may or may not appear, it was always important to us that nothing in this movie feels like a gimmick.”
She continued: "Anyone showing up has a crucial story purpose or a beginning, middle, and end as a character arc. It was definitely a collaborative process of seeing who fit in and who didn't."
Director Shawn Levy previously talked about his cameo strategy in the film, saying: "We didn't want any of the cameos or characters to be the story of the movie. But they are peppered in throughout.”
He added: “There's a lot of characters. The internet is a delight of rumors about the multitude of character cameos that are in this movie. Some rumors are true, some are way off base."
Levy continued: "Wade himself is a fan. Without giving anything away about the various universes the different characters live in. Because he's in some ways a fawning motormouthed little fanboy himself, it allows the movie to call out and reference a ton of deep-cut Marvel references."
It’s going to be a fun experience watching this movie and seeing what characters and actors actually end up showing up.
The confirmed cast for the movie includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.
They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna, who will return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. There’s also Dafne Keen as X-23, and it was previously reported that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.
Some of the other rumored characters include Halle Berry as Storm, Famke Jensen as Jean Grey, Ben Affleck as Daredevil, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Henry Cavill as Wolverine, Chris Evans as Captain America, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.
Some of the other rumored casting includes Brian Cox as William Striker, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Lewis Tan as Shatterstar, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Taron Edgerton as a different Wolverine, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Rebecca Romijn as Raven, Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom, Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth, Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld previously made comments about the cameos, saying: “I’ve been very fortunate people put stuff in front of me. And trust me, all I’m saying is, I saw that cast list. I think people are just going to freakin’ get blown away, and I’m not saying shit more than what I just said.”
